The data collected by the Census this year will be used to determine a host of issues critical to the nonprofit community, including but not limited to:

  • Title 1 grants to educational agencies
    (school districts across the nation)
  • Head Start programs
  • Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) (food grants)
  • Programs for the elderly
  • Emergency food and shelter

Federal Funds at Stake for Indiana:

  • 4 trillion dollars in federal funds distributed to the states based on Census data over the next 10 years.
  • 7.8 billion dollars in Census-based federal funds is the amount that Indiana received in 2007 alone!
  • $1,226.29 is the amount that each person counted in the 2000 Census earned for Indiana in federal funds in 2007.
